Honoring the Memory: Reflecting on the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi
3/29/20251 min read

The Rwandan Canadian Society of Calgary and friends are coming together to host a powerful and reflective event to honor the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda.
This commemoration serves as a reminder that, in a world where division and hatred continue to surface, we must learn from history to prevent such tragedies from recurring. The 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi remains one of the darkest chapters in human history, with over a million lives lost in just 100 days. Through education, awareness, and dialogue, we can ensure that the memory of the victims is preserved and that the lessons from this atrocity guide us toward a more just and compassionate world.
As a community, we are reminded that our shared humanity transcends borders. By engaging with stories of survival and the ongoing fight against denial, we strengthen our collective resolve to build a world where such tragedies never happen again.
Let us come together to reflect, remember, and reaffirm our commitment to a world where love triumphs over hate and where the lessons of the past guide us toward a better tomorrow.
